Collaborative constructions portraying women's stages of life

The Bag Ladies as well as art are part of the history of women of the era before the women’s movement – the silent 50’s – which should be heard. The eleven Bag Ladies are a collaborative series of framed constructions of handmade masks, artifacts and props. Each mask is contained within or breaking out of a shopping bag. They are housed in boxes to signify external or self-imposed limits. The philosophical intent and the actual working on the project was a multilayered endeavor- a true integration of ideas and art making. The result was a blending of individual aesthetics into a single vision.
The Bag Ladies have been donated to the Art Center of Northern New Jersey.
